"Learn to Swim" LESSONS

Learning how to swim can save your child’s life! Our "Learn to Swim" lessons are designed to develop independent swimmers. If you're unsure about which level to enroll in, feel free to schedule a free skills assessment by emailing Heidi Berens, Assistant Pools Coordinator, at hberens@zps.org

Level 1 - Intro to Water Skills: Front and back floats | Rollover floats and glides (assisted) | Front and back glides | Flutter kick 

Level 2 - Fundamentals of Aquatics Skills: Jump in deep water | Rhythmic breathing (bobs) | Tread water | Change direction | Front and back glide | Basic front crawl | Basic back crawl

Levels 3-4 - Stroke Development and Improvement (Deep End of Pool): Sitting, kneeling and standing dives | Back float in deep water | Tread water | Deep water rhythmic breathing (bobs) | Front crawl and back crawl progressions | Elementary backstroke | Side stroke | Introduction to Butterfly | Dolphin kick | Intro to Breaststroke | Whip kick

Private / Semi-private Swim Lessons

6 Month Olds-Adults

Learning how to swim can save your child’s life! Maximize the individual attention you receive and speed in which you learn by signing up for a private swim lesson (three 30-minute lessons)! Great for infants, children, teens or adults. Private swim instruction provides flexible scheduling and personalized attention to meet the need of every swimmer. Lessons are sold in bundles of three-30 minute lessons. 

  • Registration Paused: Due to the upcoming east warm pool shutdown tentatively scheduled for later this Fall in order to replace our HVAC, registration for private swim lessons is paused in order to accommodate private swim lessons that have already been purchased. Registration will resume once the pool is reopened in early January.   
  • Structure: Three 30-Minute Lessons
  • 1-on-1  Lessons: $89r/$104nr
  • 2-on-1  Lessons: $73r/$88nr each
  • 3-on-1  Lessons: $63r/$78nr each

Swim School

6-14 Yr Olds

This program is for kids interested in learning about competitive swimming and developing their skills in a non-competitive swimming environment. Participants will become more proficient with the four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly) and learn to execute starts and turns. Participants must be deep water safe and have a level four or equivalent swimming ability (See Level 4 skills list HERE). No competitive swim experience necessary. Enroll based on age at start date. 

Note: Swimmers who plan on signing up for ZAGS are encouraged to also enroll in our “Competitive Stroke Clinic”, which begins immediately after the completion of Swim School.

Free Open Swim While Enrolled In GROUP Swim Lessons

To encourage our swimmers to practice their skills between lessons, each child who enrolls in our group swim lessons will receive a family open swim certificate that will allow FREE unlimited access for their immediate family to open swim for the duration of their swim lesson session. Family open swim certificates will be handed out on the first day of swim lessons and may be redeemed for a Splash Pass at the service desk. One certificate per family. Certificates are non-transferrable.
