Lifeguard certification

15 Yr Olds-Adults

The American Red Cross lifeguard training and certification program provides participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Our detailed training is offered in a blended learning format consisting of online and in-person training. Participants who successfully complete the lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two (2) years. Participants will be emailed directions for accessing the online portion of the class two-weeks prior to the start of the in-person sessions. All online content must be completed prior to the first in-person session.

Age Prerequisites: Students must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class.

Qualifications Prerequisites: Pre-course requirements will be tested on the first day of the course.  This includes a 300-yard continuous swim, a 2-minute tread using legs only, and a timed event completed within 1-minute, 40-seconds where the participant will start in the water, swim 20-yards, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20-yards on their back to return to the starting point, and exit the water without using the steps or ladder.
