Zeeland School Board Seeks Input in Superintendent Search

The Zeeland Board of Education has begun the search process to find a new superintendent. Assisting the Board is the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), a service organization that supports the work of school boards throughout Michigan.

As the profile of the ideal candidate is developed, the board is soliciting community and staff input. Residents of the district, all staff and administration are encouraged to participate in the process.

An online survey is available at this URL:

Survey responses are sent directly to MASB in Lansing for tabulation.  The Board will publicly consider the input received and develop a Candidate Profile, which will guide the process as candidates are recruited and selected for public interview.  The board expects to select the new superintendent to begin July 1, 2025.

Dear ZPS Families and Community,

As we continue our work to ensure a thoughtful and inclusive search for the next permanent superintendent of Zeeland Public Schools, the Board of Education has appointed Dr. Scott Korpak as our interim superintendent, effective May 5, 2025.

Dr. Korpak recently retired after serving as superintendent of Northview Public Schools for nearly a decade. He brings a wealth of experience, a calm leadership style, and a strong commitment to public education. We’re confident that he will provide steady leadership during this important time of transition.

This decision reflects our commitment to a transparent and thorough search process. By appointing a respected leader who is not a candidate for the permanent role, we can ensure that the process remains open and focused on what is best for ZPS, now and for years to come.

We once again thank Mr. Matt Stolz for his exceptional leadership during a season of change. His dedication and care for our schools have made a lasting impact.

We look forward to working with Dr. Korpak and continuing to partner with our community in the months ahead. Please stay connected through our website for updates and opportunities to share feedback during the search process. A survey link will be available beginning Monday, April 21.

With appreciation,

Dear ZPS  Families and Community,

At Zeeland Public Schools, our strength has always come from the relationships we build and our care for one another. As we continue to support Superintendent Dr. Brandi-Lyn Mendham during her ongoing medical leave, the Board of Education has taken an important step toward planning for the 2025-2026 school year.

At the April 1 meeting, the board voted to engage an experienced search firm to support the district in selecting its next superintendent. This decision, made in collaboration with Dr. Mendham, reflects a desire to explore various perspectives while ensuring the best possible leadership for our students, staff, and families.

We are especially grateful to Mr. Matt Stolz, who has served as interim superintendent since October with care, consistency, and a deep commitment to our schools. His leadership has been a steadying force and has laid a strong foundation for the work ahead.

The board is fully focused on supporting a strong and successful future for Zeeland Public Schools. We will share updates with the community as the search process develops and collect your valuable feedback to help inform this important decision.

This page will be updated regularly to inform our community of updates, key dates, and opportunities to share input. We are committed to ensuring a clear, collaborative process that reflects our district's values and commitment to strong leadership.
